[part-time] Mobile Application Coordinator

Start English Now is seeking a bright and resourceful part-time Mobile application Coordinator to work with our team to run our newly developed mobile app. The coordinator will start working for 20 hours a week, however, this position will be potentially full time in a couple of months. This position is based in Brooklyn, New York.

About Us

Start English Now (www.startenglishnow.net) is a young and small startup that launched in 2016, when the founder, Summer, began sharing videos of herself teaching her friend English on YouTube. As the videos gained more and more traction, she started receiving emails from her followers on learning methods and strategies. Coming from a background in international education, Summer put her learning strategies together and made coaching programs.

Now, Start English Now is dedicated to helping people from different cultures to communicate fluently in English thereby achieving their global dreams. Students and audiences are mainly Korean diasporas based all over the world.

Currently, we have two main service lines: We run a YouTube channel that has around 85,000 subscribers reaching 300,000 views per month with a rapid increase every month - last month we gained +10,000 new subscribers. We have exciting projects and programs lined up including launching a mobile application and publishing a book.

Scope of Work

The coordinator will manage the operations of our mobile application with his/her supervisor, the CEO of Start English Now. This work includes

  • Hiring and managing translators

  • Selecting YouTube videos that will be used as lessons

  • Investigating and solving users’ complaints

  • Managing budgets and payrolls

  • Assisting with content development

Required Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English-Korean

  • Demonstrable interest in ESL education and learning processes

  • Customer service skills

  • Project management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Detail-oriented

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, meeting deadlines as needed

  • Demonstrable leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work experience in operations or administrations

  • Teaching experience
